This site, defiantbet.org (the "Site"), is operated by Jeff Merritt. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit, and your rights under California law.

We do not ask visitors to submit personal information, and there are no forms, logins, or newsletter signups on this Site.

However, our hosting platform, Squarespace, automatically collects limited data from all visitors to power basic site analytics. This includes:

  • Referring/exit pages

  • Pages viewed and time spent on the Site

  • General geographic location (derived from IP address)

This data is collected via cookies placed by Squarespace. We do not add any additional tracking tools (no Google Analytics, no advertising pixels, no third-party trackers).

Squarespace uses this data solely to generate traffic analytics (e.g., visitor counts, popular pages) for our own reference. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or marketing.

Note: These statutory rights formally apply to businesses that meet certain size or revenue thresholds. This Site voluntarily extends these disclosures and rights to all visitors regardless of whether those thresholds are met, consistent with the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA), which requires any commercial site collecting personal information from California residents to post a privacy policy.

Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. This Site does not currently respond differently to Do Not Track signals, as no industry-standard approach for responding has been adopted.
